Side yards get no respect. They're often treated as if they were good for nothing but passageways between the front yard and the backyard. But why should just the front and back portions of your landscape receive all the glory? Land is land, and to achieve unity in a landscape design, all portions of the yard should receive attention.
Or maybe you do care about your side yard and would love to landscape it properly, but you have "landscaper's block" (writers get it, so why not landscapers?).
