Did you know that, technically speaking, the devices many people call "weed eaters" should be referred to as "string trimmers" ("line trimmers," "weed whackers," and "weed wackers" are also commonly used terms)? That's because, like Band-Aid, Weed Eater is actually a brand name but has come to be used (incorrectly, if one wishes to be pedantic about it) in a generic sense.
